Since the creation of WARN-TB in March 2015, the WARN/CARN-TB network organises an annual consortium meeting, of national TB program coordinators, from the 27 countries of West and Central Africa. These meetings enable program managers to discuss tuberculosis-related challenges and work on the development of regional control strategies.
It is in this context that the 7th annual meeting of national tuberculosis program coordinators was held in Lomé, Togo, from December 14 to 17, 2022. The meeting was organized with the technical and financial support of WHO/TDR through Dr. Corinne Merle and her team. In addition to taking stock of the network’s activities in 2022, the 4-day meeting provided participants with an opportunity to discuss a range of issues of importance to TB control in the region, including the following: the new WHO/GTB modules for TB surveillance, the implementation of TB/COVID contingency plans, coupled screening for TB and SARS/CoV2, the establishment of an e-learning platform on TB and the management of TB drugs and inputs in the region. Partners also took the opportunity to present program managers with opportunities to strengthen TB control in their respective countries.
At the end of the meeting, participants drew up the network’s work plan for 2023, with a view to strengthening TB control in West and Central Africa.
