WARN/CARN-TB held its 8th annual meeting on December 13, 14, 15 and 16, 2023, in Cotonou, Benin. Organized by the Executive Secretariat, with technical and financial support from WHO/TDR, the meeting was held both face-to-face at the Benin Royal Hotel in Cotonou and online via the ZOOM platform. It brought together the heads of National TB Programs from the 27 countries of West and Central Africa, and partners in the fight against TB in the region, notably WHO/TDR, WHO/AFRO, WHO/GTB, The Union, Damien Foundation, Expertise France, the French Embassy, the Global Fund, SEARN-TB and DRAF-TB.
During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to discuss various themes of importance to tuberculosis control in the region. These included the programmatic management of TB preventive treatment and TB screening in key populations, the generic guide for TB control during security crises, and operational research on TB in network countries. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges linked to the sustainability of the network’s activities, as well as its governance and its 2024-2030 strategic plan.
At the end of this important meeting, participants had a clear idea of the network’s action plan for 2024.
