National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) coordinators from Central and West African countries, met from February 4 to 7, 2020 at the Benin Royal Hotel in Cotonou, to discuss ways and means of removing the obstacles undermining the dynamics of TB control on a regional scale. This 4-day working meeting provided TB program managers from both regions with the opportunity to discuss a number of important issues, such as operational research in the region, community involvement in TB control, and the supply of quality anti-tuberculosis drugs. Participants also had the opportunity to attend a training session on leadership and organizational management.
The fourth meeting of NTP coordinators also provided an opportunity to take stock (after one year) of the regional TB-LAB project, the regional network of TB laboratories in West and Central Africa. This network, which includes 23 laboratories in the region, is working to build the capacity of laboratory players in TB management, under the coordination of the supranational laboratory in Cotonou.
