Digital tools for TB control
Digital tools for TB control
The 3rd pillar of the WHO’s global strategy to end tuberculosis encourages stakeholders to promote scientific research and innovation. Over the last decade, various tools have been developed, all of which rely on digital tools to facilitate tuberculosis management. These innovations have strengthened the arsenal of players in the fight against tuberculosis, enabling them to meet emerging challenges. To revitalize this component in West and Central Africa, WHO/TDR is providing technical and financial support for the implementation of operational research studies on various social protection measures for TB patients in various national tuberculosis programs (NTPs) in the region.
Summaries of these studies are provided below.
Guinea : calibration of CAD software for tuberculosis screening via chest radiography in patients over 15 years of age in Guinea.
General objective : Adapting CAD software to Guinea’s epidemiological and operational context to strengthen tuberculosis screening. Specific objectives : Determine the CAD software anomaly score threshold that maximizes the sensitivity or specificity of tuberculosis screening in Guinea. Compare CAD software
Gambia : transitioning to a case-based surveillance system: KAP, data quality, and concordance study.
General objective : The aim of this study is to assess the prepardness of the TB management system to move to case-based surveillance system. Specific objectives : To assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of TB service providers on the
Togo : strategy for improving the management of individual data on tuberculosis patients: evaluation of the use of the tb tracker in Togo
General objective : Evaluate the implementation of E-Tracker TB in terms of quality of data collected, and stakeholder satisfaction in the Grand Lomé region of Togo to help develop a strategy for the use of this tool. Specific Objectives :
Nigeria : Assessing the Effectiveness of The GxAlert System in the Management of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis Patients in Nigeria
General objective : The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact, acceptability, and feasibility of food provision to patients with TB under programme conditions. Specific objectives : To assess the performance of the GxAlert system at present (2021-2022)
